All side impact protection is probably removed.

I love that they used Mark VIIIs to demo this. I wonder what ever became of the cars that received this mod.

JATECH doesn’t seem to be around anymore, and disappearing-car-door.com appears to have been snatched up by a new owner.

I do love me a Mark 8. My dad had one for a bit- it was a beautiful car. A beautiful, cramped car with ever-leaky air suspension. I could never comfortably fit in it, but I still wanted it.

I’ve seen other videos of this mod. They’re all of that era Ford/Merc/Linc. The company seems to have been restricted by the shape of the door. Those F/M/L’s had very square openings. This fact + loss of side impact safety requirements= small market for sales. I’d totally drive one of their Mark VIIIs, death trap or not.
